  • Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

    Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

    Secret Wars: Renew Your Vows

First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows Vol. 1 #3 (August 2015)

    In-Game Release: 1.4 - Secret Wars (August 25, 2015)

In the Regency territory of Battleworld, Peter Parker lives a normal life with his wife Mary Jane and daughter Annie, retiring as Spider-Man after the villain known as Regent killed both the Avengers and X-Men and took their powers, eventually taking over his portion of Battleworld and outlawing all super-powered individuals. When Annie’s power inhibitor breaks down and the Power Pack is spotted at her school, Peter returns as Spider-Man, wearing the cloth version of his symbiote suit to finally rise up against Regent, joined by Hawkeye’s resistance comprised of himself, Mockingbird, and the Prowler among others. After defeating Regent, Peter and his family resumed their normal lives, and once their reality became its own Earth after the events of Secret Wars, both Annie and Mary Jane joined Peter in crime-fighting as Spiderling and Spinneret respectively.

    All-New, All-Different

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4 #1 (October 2015)

    In-Game Release: 1.8 - Spider-Verse (December 15, 2015)

After the Marvel universe was remade after the events of Secret Wars, Peter– who found himself as the CEO of his own tech company Parker Industries, made when his body was possessed by Doctor Octopus– quickly rose as one of the most popular heroes worldwide thanks to Parker Industries’ global influence and Spider-Man being marketed as the company’s mascot and bodyguard; to circumvent the obvious problem of Peter and Spider-Man being one and the same, the mantle was taken up by Hobie Brown, the original Prowler, whenever the two identities needed an alibi. Parker Industries’ reach caught the eye of SHIELD, sending Mockingbird as a liaison who teamed up with Spider-Man on various missions. Naturally, because Spider-Man needs to remain relatable and face no personal growth, Parker Industries later collapsed in order for its technology to not fall in HYDRA’s hands during Secret Empire, and Peter was back to being a broke, single manchild, cursed to forever remain this way forever (and forever remain vaguely in his mid-20s) since 2007.

  • Miles Morales

    Miles Morales

    Preface

So I don’t have to explain it for either of Miles’ comic book uniforms, I’ll briefly go over Miles’ current status quo here:

Prior to Secret Wars (2015), Miles Morales was the Spider-Man of Earth-1610 (the original Ultimate universe), succeeding his Earth’s Peter Parker after his death. During the events of Secret Wars, Miles and Earth-616 Peter discover the Molecule Man– who Doom had been using to create and rule over Battleworld– where Miles gave the starving Molecule Man a burger that he had hidden… somewhere in his costume. To pay him back, Molecule Man placed Miles into Earth-616, along with his supporting cast like Ganke and his family as well as resurrecting his mother, who died at the hands of his universe’s Venom. Though he is now considered to have always been in Earth-616 thanks to Molecule Man (he was retconned into becoming Spider-Man during Secret Invasion, but this was never acknowledged outside of the book this was revealed in), Miles still has his memories of his life in Earth-1610, but they are repressed in favor of his new Earth-616 memories. Miles and his supporting cast are still considered by the reader as one of the last remnants of Earth-1610– if you’ve been reading up on the current Ultimate Universe relaunch, you likely know this already.

So the general gist is this: Miles is a native of Earth-1610, retconned in-universe as being a native of Earth-616 this whole time, only being actively treated otherwise by the reader because they know that he isn’t from Earth-616.

    Absolute Carnage

First Appearance: Absolute Carnage #3 (Design only, August 2019) and Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #1 (Full Appearance, August 2019)

    In-Game Release: 6.5a - Symbiote Invasion (Timed uniform release, November 5, 2020)

This uniform appears in both the Absolute Carnage event book as well as its Miles Morales: Spider-Man tie-in, but depict different situations for Miles during this event. You should treat the events of Absolute Carnage proper as the canon, as it’s that book’s Miles design the game uses. Despite this, I will cover both here:

When the Symbiote God Knull first came to Earth, Miles joined Venom as one of the first to meet him. Later, when Carnage was resurrected and attempted to kill all who at some point had bonded with a Symbiote, Miles was taken over by an offshoot Carnage symbiote, becoming assimilated within his hivemind and set out to do Carnage’s bidding (both books). Though he quickly freed himself from the symbiote, Miles chose to rebond with the symbiote in order to spy on Carnage (tie-in), but he also is freed by Eddie Brock, where he reveals Carnage’s plan to take on Knull by taking both Venom and the Hulk’s symbiote remnants in one fell swoop (main book).

    Anniversary Special

First Appearance: Miles Morales: Spider-Man Vol. 1 #29 (August 2021)

    In-Game Release: 8.7 - Moon Temple Defenders Part 2 (January 11, 2023)

After going through his own Clone Saga like his Peter Parker before him, Miles dons this new costume after his old costume was ripped to shreds, as well as his clones committing crimes wearing the same suit (as well as to commemorate 10 years of Miles Morales). His first adventure in this costume involved rescuing his girlfriend Tiana Toomes, the Vulture’s granddaughter, from Taskmaster, only to later be sent a cease and desist from the Beyond Corporation, who had owned the Spider-Man license and recruited Ben Reilly as the new Spider-Man. Upon his book’s relaunch, Miles returned to his classic suit.

  • Spider-Gwen

    Spider-Gwen

    Gwenom

    First Appearance: Spider-Gwen Vol. 2 #24 (September 2017)

    In-Game Release: 6.5 - Symbiote Invasion (October 27, 2020)

Being forced to work under Kingpin Matt Murdock and the Hand in order to restore her fading powers and to free her father from prison for aiding and abetting Spider-Woman, Gwen was tasked to recover Harry Osborn–who had become the Lizard like Peter Parker before him– in order for her to continue being supplied with isotopes that gave her powers back, as well as to cure Harry by infecting him with a combination of the Venom symbiote and the isotopes Gwen was using. When the Rhino was freed and beat George Stacy into a coma, Gwen bonded with the symbiote, becoming Gwenom and swearing vengeance on both Murdock and the Rhino . With the suit, she gained all her powers, as well as a healing factor from the symbiote being bonded to Harry prior.

  • Silk

    Silk

    Web Suit

    First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3 #4 (July 2014)

    In-Game Release: 2.7 - Asgardians (December 7, 2016)

As part of the Original Sin event, where Uatu the Watcher’s secrets were unleashed after his death, Peter Parker discovered that the spider that bit him also bit a girl named Cindy Moon, who had been hidden by Ezekiel Sims–another person with spider powers who got his from a ritual– from the eyes of Morlun, an energy vampire who fed off the life essence of Spider characters. It’s as stupid as it sounds, but this is also how we got Spider-Verse, as well as the fantastic movies. This isn’t the stupidest part, however: Once Peter freed Cindy from her bunker, they both realized that the spider biting them both gave off pheromones only they could sense, making it so that they can’t keep their hands off each other. If you have a WMAF fetish, this Spider-Man run is for you! To continue with the stupidity, Cindy was revealed in the Spider-Verse event to be the avatar of the Bride: who is responsible for the appearance of the spider characters across the multiverse (referred to as Spider-Totems). She later became her own established superhero, working undercover in Black Cat’s criminal empire and continuing her search for her missing family.

  • Spider-Man 2099

    Spider-Man 2099

    All-New, All-Different

    First Appearance: Spider-Man 2099 Vol. 3 #1 (Cover only, October 2015), Spider-Man 2099 Vol. 3 #2 (Full appearance, October 2015)

    In-Game Release: 5.2 - Spider Man: Far From Home (July 2, 2019)

Deciding to remain in Earth-616 after his timeline was conquered by the Maestro, Miguel worked for Parker Industries and continued being Spider-Man (this marked at least three Spider-Men running around at the same time: Himself, Miles, Peter, and technically the Prowler). When his girlfriend Tempest Monroe was killed by Dr. Alexi Cronos, the leading expert in robotics before being succeeded by his pupil Victor Von Doom, Miguel hunted him down, only for Cronos to die before revealing his benefactor, who turned out to be the Fist, an offshoot of the Hand. Miguel later found out Tempest was alive, but was soon stranded in 2099. He later decided to stay in his timeline instead of back to the present in order to preserve the timeline, leaving Tempest behind.

  • Arachknight

    Arachknight

    Arachknight 2099

First Appearance: Secret Warps: Ghost Panther Annual #1 (July 2019)

    In-Game Release: 8.7.5 - Web Warriors (Midmonth, January 26, 2023)

In the year 2099, Miguel Ravage– the combination of Miguel O’Hara and Paul-Phillip Ravage– became Arachknight 2099 after being exposed to primal spider DNA and became a member of the 2099 Defenders, where the team encountered the present-day Ghost Panther while in the middle of a martian invasion, which Ghost Panther quickly dispatched by asking Zarathos to consume Mars.

  • Scarlet Spider

    Scarlet Spider

    Chasm [Dark Web]

    First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 5 #93 (March 2022)

    In-Game Release: 8.7.5 - Web Warriors (Midmonth, January 26, 2023)

The enigmatic Beyond Corporation, owning the Spider-Man license, has recruited Ben Reilly to become the new Spider-Man while Peter was put in a coma, the reason being that Ben was easty to manipulate. When Ben discovered this, his memories were quickly tampered with, erasing his formative memories which Ben struggled with, later fighting a recovered Peter to regain them, only to lose and be presumed dead when Beyond Tower collapsed. Later, Ben’s partner Janine discovered him in the wreckage, and Ben took up a new identity: Chasm.

Later, desperate for his memories, Ben and Janine teamed up with fellow clone Madelyne Pryor, and the two decided to seek vengeance against their original counterparts for ruining their lives. The two clashed in their individual plans, which resulted in Ben usurping Madelyne as ruler of Limbo, turning into a demon, losing his title as ruler, and then being imprisoned in the remnants of Limbo, which is now just an embassy in New York City. Writing this, I suddenly realize that the Spider-Totem stuff isn’t really that stupid– there’s always worse ideas out there.
