Summer Seasonals 2025

Continuing with previous years, this event has discounts applied to older returning seasonal uniforms.

Crystal uniforms over two years old were discounted by the regular 40%, for a cost of 1050 Crystals.

Paywall uniforms over two years old were discounted by 10 tokens, so they cost 20 tokens.

  These are all useful support uniforms and are listed in no particular order.

  Groot [Planet X Palm]

  Our new male seasonal of this year continues the trend over the past couple years of providing a solid niche support to a character that previously was not one. (Though Groot's GOTG3 uniform was technically a Guardians-specific support, that barely counts as none are meta.)

  This uniform adds a 45% damage to bosses buff for Aliens, making it the new meta support for Hero Alien Male ABL day over Beta Ray Bill's 35% damage to villains. There is also a minor heal passive that can assist in WBL in some situations, which is a nice touch as Groot's original support value was as a healer (back when this was extremely valuable in World Boss).

  As a main, he can also be solid alternative for that Hero Alien Male ABL day while obviously not dethroning Gladiator. If you are deadset on not getting Gladiator, he provides a nice alternative to building Bill (who is more expensive) or Star-Lord for the day.

  However if you already have a decent Hero Alien Male team (e.g. Gladiator with Yondu/Bill or Star-Lord with Yondu/Bill/GOTG3 Groot), this uniform wouldn't provide heaps of value.

  Still the main Blast Male Villain support, meaning he pretty much follows Strange around. While Leader has been added over the past year as a second support in this category, Leader's support passives are much weaker.

  Not really useful on his own, being stuck at Transcended, but still very worth it.

  Yondu [Summer Vacation]

  Yondu remains a goated support with insanely high buffs to Aliens - 50% damage to villains, 35% all basic attacks, and 40% damage to bosses. Each one of these individually would make for a decent-to-good support and he has all three.

  The singular downside here (other than Yondu not being usable as a main) is how niche the support is, currently primarily used in a single ABL day along with various WBL restrictions. If you care about that ABL day at all though, he is a must have.

  Still his best uniform, but doesn't mean anything as Iceman is useless and stuck at Tier-3.

  Each of these uniforms can be purchased for 20 or 30 Christmas Event tokens. These come with certain real-money packs at roughly 1 USD for each token (though the packs come with other items, like Crystals, as well).

  10 tokens are given for free in a check-in event, so you can consider the first uniform you buy as costing 10 USD less. Any subsequent uniforms will require you to buy additional 20-30 tokens, depending on whether you want to buy a discounted one, for about 20-30 USD.

  Despite Strange and then Storm overtaking her on the no-restriction days, Luna remains the most versatile Alliance Battle character, with 5 uses per fortnight in ABL and 2 in ABX. The various new Tier-4 Speed Female Human Heroes over the past year also provided no F2P alternative that is remotely competitive with her scores.

  There may be some reservations about buying a seasonal uniform that is now two years old though, and especially for a character like Luna that Netmarble likes to keep in the spotlight. However she very much still is a key meta character, and there seems to be a concerted effort to have her be the unrivalled best character for her restrictions. For comparison, look at how they had no qualms replacing Psylocke's summer uniform with a F2P Storm uniform, while Luna has stayed on top for 2 years at the expense of MCU protagonist uniforms like Yelena's. This would hopefully indicate they have no plans to replace this uniform yet - though nothing is guaranteed.

  However there are valid points on the other side:

  • Luna usually gets new uniforms every couple of years, and it would be beneficial for Netmarble to release a new uniform to capitalise off the character's popularity in Marvel Rivals.
  • This uniform would be on discount when it returns next year, and it would be very weird for it to still be so much more useful than both Emma's and Psylocke's.
  • The promised ABX/L restriction changes are still looming and could reduce her versatility significantly if they cut down on her days.

  The obvious solution is to buy it because the animations are sick.

  This year's new seasonal uniform is just fine and continues the trend of the last few rework poll characters being seasonal. However considering that Emma is already a crystalwall character, having her usability locked behind an additional 20 USD price tag is unideal (add on an Artifact if you want her for PvP).

  For PvE she has a very proc-friendly rotation and decent damage, though not enough to even compare to Storm. This is fine because it means you can build her for PvE and have her usable if you like the character, but there would have been no harm in having her a bit closer to the best in her class - Storm would still very much be worth building if Emma had been made even stronger than her.

  For PvP she is a solid reflect-based character if you have her Artifact, though this adds even more upfront cost for her to be viable. This is an area where you'd actually get use out of her in OWB/TBA/AC though, and while a step below Knull/Sentry/Surfer she can be formidable with a stacked build.

  Last year's standout uniform still holds up very well DPS-wise. Unfortunately there is a new Storm uniform that does everything she does but better, and is much more fun to play than Psylocke.

  Still a very good uniform if you really like the character, and/or already have her unlocked and want her to be usable.

  On the other hand, perhaps you do not want to spend $20 to "get the most" out of a character who already cost 6,600 Crystals to unlock, only for her to still be worse than the completely free character with a non-seasonal uniform.

  Still her best uniform, but Silk overall is outdated and long overdue for a new uniform and Tier-4.

  Replaced by the non-seasonal [Marvel Animation's X-Men '97] uniform, which coincidentally also replaced Psylocke [Summer Days].

  Enchantress [Summer Days]
