The Plight of the Transcended Shitter

With Nova and Phyla-Vell receiving Transcended Potentials in the 10.9 update, many are speculating this is a precursor to a cosmic update where Nova will finally become good. Let's have a look through the archives to see if the stats are on the Dick Riders' side.

We will define a "Transcended Shitter", or "TS", as a character who receives a Transcended Potential in an update, without being a new character or having a new uniform that update. Conversely a "non-TS" character is one that received their Transcended Potential at the same update that they were either added, or got a new uniform.

  Uniform Redemption

  Of the total 51 Transcended Shitters, there have been 8 (15.69%) occurrences of uniforms being added after an "Empty Transcend", which hopefully "redeemed" them by lifting them out of shitter status and making them usable.

  Alarmingly for the Shitters, of the total 81 "non-Shitters", there have been 27 (33.33%) occurrences of uniforms being added after the initial Transcend+Uniform, or Transcend+Character - over double the rate. (The percentage may not be quite accurate as it includes some characters who receive more than 1 uniform since. But that is further evidence to the plight.) These can be viewed in the 2nd collapsible at the bottom of the page if you are curious.

  (This is made worse by the fact that Yelena's Transcended skill was delayed by a year for unknown reasons. It was actually ready when her uniform was added and only implemented in 7.2, so it could be argued she is not a Transcended Shitter at all. This would leave Weapon Hex as the sole TS to receive a Tier-4.)

  Conclusions

  IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR THE TWO OF YOU!!!

  From the "Uniform Redemption" section we can see that there is a very low chance of a TS receiving an additional uniform. Transcended characters in general do not get uniforms very often - even the "Non-TS Additional Uniforms" have massive gaps between Transcended Skill and next uniform. You can also look at the "Rapidly Replaced Uniforms" Daily Buggle article for further evidence, as the vast majority of uniforms there are either a) for Tier-3 characters or b) prior to 6th skills existing.

  Rapidly Replaced Uniforms

  It gets even more dire with Tier-4s, which tend to go to Tier-3s much more often than Transcended chars to begin with. On top of this, Transcended Tier-4s are far more likely to go to non-TS characters than TS ones.

  Of course being a TS alone is not the reason for this - it is mostly because TS characters are unpopular to begin with, and were given 6th skills to supplement an update with more popular new characters/uniforms. It can be argued that Nova and Phyla are some of the more powerful/popular characters to be given the TS treatment and thus still have a decent chance for Tier-4s and uniforms soon. If this happens they will be quite "anomalous". Goodbye.
