10 Year Anniversary - Character and Uniform Source Breakdown
With all updates until the 10th Anniversary wrapped up, what better time than to run some numbers on the past 10 years of the game. This started out as a look at the game's original characters/uniforms, but then it was trivial to add the other sources.
The method is to simply look through all the new characters and uniforms added by each "year version" (e.g. 1.x, 2.x, all the way to 10.x) and categorise them by their source. Note that these categories are assigned manually and not based on any game data, hopefully there are no inaccuracies.
These are listed as "Years" in the lists below. Note that these are not calendar years but game years - starting roughly in late April each year with each Anniversary (x.0) update.
The four categories are:
- Original: Marvel Future Fight's original character designs.
- MCU: Designs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (including Disney+ TV shows).
- Comic: Self-explanatory.
- Other: Encompasses Sony Spider-Verse film, Marvel Rivals collab, and Marvel Television (pre-Disney+) show content.
(Note: At the time of publishing Elektra's latest uniform shows as an empty box, but will appear as intended after the site is updated.)
Overall Stats
There are 802 total Characters / Uniforms in the game prior to the 11.0 update, broken down into:
- Comic: 484 (60.35%)
- MCU: 209 (26.06%)
- Original: 87 (10.85%)
- Other: 22 (2.74%)

The number of original uniforms increased quite steadily in the earlier years but has since stagnated at around 13-18%. The peak in Year 7 is a huge outlier, thanks to two full OC update themes (Black Order and Armor Wars 3099) alongside the debut of the April Fools seasonals.
Year 8 continued the trend somewhat with one OC-related main update (Moon Temple Defenders), a couple of extras (Ancient One & Blade), and the addition of the Halloween seasonals.
Years 9 and 10 have actually regressed a lot in terms of themed original content, but are kept afloat since there are now 8 seasonal uniforms per year. Another factor is original characters mostly getting seasonal uniforms now, instead of their own original non-seasonal uniforms.

The main trend here is the uptick in MCU content in the post-Disney+ era. Also up there with the post-D+ years is years 4 and 5, with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame respectively. The number of uniforms added for each of these films individually is higher than some of the lesser years' entire MCU roster.
On the lower end of the scale there is year 6, which was obviously impacted by COVID. Year 2 is 2nd last, which is not really due to a lack of MCU content, but because they were shitting out comic uniforms at the time with very little skill changes. Year 10 is a bit of an anomaly in the post-D+ era, as multiple shows (X-Men '97, Agatha All Along, What If...? Season 3) did not receive updates, and with Deadpool and Wolverine being the only film of 2024.

Not much to note here as there's no real trend across the various "other" sources. Sony is clearly willing to collaborate with game companies for collabs (evidenced by Peter B Parker, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Punk being added to Fortnite in Dec 2024), so hopefully we can get some new Spider-Verse stuff before 2027.
While a larger Marvel Rivals update could have been very popular, for now it seems Magik's uniform was a minimum effort collab mandated by Marvel Games.

Not much to say here either since comic uniforms are the "default" and also largely the inverse of the MCU list.
Year 6 again is the pandemic year - interesting that they went all-in on comic themes during this period rather than original content (only 3/7 of the original uniforms this year were not seasonal).
