10 Year Anniversary - Artifact Selector Recommendations

Hellos bros. I think we will do a set of Artifact Selector recommendations each half-year as Anniversary / Black Friday bingo rolls around + potential other selectors with events. I cannot be bothered updating it any more often than this.

You can click on the portrait images below and it will take you straight to the Artifact tab of that character. Also worth checking out the:

  • Lead/Support tab for Support characters for a full view of their overall supports.
  • ABX/L and WBL tabs for versatility.

While the recommendations are split into the lower ranking and upper ranking Artifacts, there is no hard cutoff. It may be wise to look at the stats for each rank yourself - it may be fine to not follow the categorisations below.

  • 3-4 Star Recommendations

    3-4 Star Recommendations

    Criteria

As 3* and 4* Artifacts are more common, the recommendations can include slightly worse characters. Focus is on:

    • Good Artifacts for "pretty good" but not amazing characters (e.g. the selection of Immortality characters).
    • Revive Passives for PvP - the main benefit here is the revive itself, which is provided at all ranks.
    • Artifacts whose stats do not significantly increase with higher ranks. We will refer to this as "poor scaling" and it is actually a good thing for 3* and 4* Artifacts. If it scales poorly, it means even a lower rank Artifact gets good performance compared to a higher one.
    Support Artifacts
    • Abomination

Restricted to Gamma Radiation Allies only.
All Basic Attacks scales very poorly - 18% at 3* compared with 25% at 6*. However the HP part only provides 4% at 3*, which is not that helpful for Hulk.
This is mainly a futureproofing pick in the hopes that there is a future Gamma character that benefits from All Basic Attacks.

    • Ronan

      Restricted to Universal Allies only.
Provides only All Basic Attacks with poor scaling - 14% at 3* compared with 20% at 6*.

    • M'Baku

Provides Ignore Dodge (which scales well but is less useful) and All Basic Attacks - this scales moderately with 8% at 3* compared with 15% at 6*.

    PvP Artifacts - Revives
    • Apocalypse

      Basic Revive.

    • Rachel Summers

      Basic Revive.

    • Sersi

Basic Revive - also easy to get from Makkari's Deluxe Mission if you have it unlocked.

    PvP Artifacts - Immortality
    • Ghost Rider

While you can use him for PvP in limited capacity with this Artifact, it can also be very useful for PvE.
Ghost Rider's skills are slow, meaning he is sometimes vulnerable to being oneshotted in WBL - the Immortality will protect against this once per fight.
His 6th and 4th skills also deal high damage ignoring i-frames, meaning they can be used alongside the Immortality to facetank Dormammu's iframe phases and continue to deal damage.

    • Hela

Decent PvP character with Immortality, can get pretty tanky with Tier-4.

    • Mister Sinister

      Mid PvP character with Immortality.

    • Sabretooth

      Mid PvP character with Immortality.

    DPS Artifacts
    • Gwenpool

Both Ignore Dodge (9% at 3* vs. 15% at 6*) and All Basic Attacks (14% at 3* vs. 20% at 6*) scale very poorly.
Gwenpool is very useful for many days of ABX/L if you do not have Luna Snow's seasonal, though her Artifact has been given for free at 4* in the 10.2 Collector's Vault.

    • Gambit

Also recommended in the 5-6 Star section, but a fantastic Artifact to improve ABX/L scores.
Even at 3*, provides a solid 20% damage buff, which is nuts for a 3* Artifact.

    Other
    • Wasp (Nadia van Dyne)

Not useful for anything, but 4* Nadia Artifacts are required to be sacrificed one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Archive items.
Kind of a "waste" but if you want completion and don't care about any of the other ones in this section, it is a decent use of a 4* Selector.

  • 5-6 Star Recommendations

    5-6 Star Recommendations

    Criteria

As higher rank Artifacts are much rarer, the criteria are different.

    • The characters are either meta as DPSes or Supports in PvE or PvP.
    • PvP Artifacts focus on Immortality, as higher ranks provide more duration on the passive.
    • PvE Artifacts (for both DPS and Support) focus on high percentages and favourable scaling - generally where a 6* Artifact provides more than double the effect of a 3* Artifact.

Percentages listed in this section show the 5* and 6* values. For example, (15% / 20%) means 15% at 5*, and 20% at 6*.

    Support Artifacts - ABX/L Focus
    • Dazzler

Mutant Support: Basic Damage to Villains (7% / 10%), All Basic Attacks (17% / 20%)
Useful for 2 days of ABL, a decent number of WBL restrictions, and unrestricted content with a Mutant DPS.

    • Black Cat

All Support: Basic Damage to Heroes and Villains (8% / 10%), Basic Damage to Bosses (16% / 20%)
Mental Artifact, almost makes her a full support in her own right, though you ideally want the Christmas paywall uniform.
Useful for leading Strange in unrestricted ABL days, Speed Villain ABX, and unrestricted content as a Villain Lead/Support.

    • Sin

Villain Support: Basic Damage to Heroes and Villains (12% / 15%)
Requires Halloween paywall uniform, but useful for Speed Villain ABX, ABL if you use Gwenpool, and unrestricted content with a Villain DPS.

    • Satana

Universal Support: All Basic Attacks (18% / 20%), Basic Damage to Bosses (8% / 10%)
Highly recommended to also have her April Fools paywall uniform, useful for making her more of a general Elemental support rather than just Fire. Useful for ABX/L days with Scarlet Witch, and unrestricted content as a Fire Damage dual Lead/Support.

    Support Artifacts - General PvE
    • Nick Fury

      Hero Support: Ignore Dodge (8% / 10%), Basic Damage to Bosses (11% / 15%)
Strong damage boost on top of Fury's existing high supports, but only really useful for specific WBL days and unrestricted content.

    • Valkyrie

All Support: Basic Damage to Bosses (11% / 15%)
Good for Combat Female ABX and unrestricted content.

    • Phil Coulson

      Hero Support: Ignore Dodge (13% / 15%), Basic Damage to Bosses (11% / 15%)
Good on paper, but applies to Heroes when his main role in the meta at the moment is supporting Strange, who is Villain.
Good general Hero support for unrestricted content.

    Support Artifacts - PvP
    • Franklin Richards

Provides Immortality to all Fantastic Four characters, which is mostly just useful for Otherworld at the moment.
With a Fantastic Four movie update coming soon, this Artifact might get a bump in usefulness.

    • Agent Venom

Provides nice offensive and defensive buffs for a Symbiote team in primarily PvP content, though it can be useful in PvE too.

    PvP Artifacts - Immortality
No descriptions required - you know what these do.
    • Wolverine

    • Carnage

    • Madelyne Pryor

    • Deadpool

    • Magik

    DPS Artifacts - ABX/L Focus
These are offensive Artifacts with a focus on Damage to Aliens, as ABX/L bosses are Aliens.
This can also apply to GBR and some World Bosses, but are not as generally useful as Damage to Villains or Bosses.
    • Gambit

A crazy 16% / 20% Damage to Villains and Aliens in the same Artifact, as strong as some full Support characters.
Also pretty good at lower ranks, thus it is also recommended in the earlier section.
The only downside is that Gambit just has the one ABL day - but he will be very very good at that one day with a high Artifact.

    • Doctor Octopus

A very high 20% / 25% Damage to Aliens and Creatures, for those that still use Ock for Combat Villain Human days.
If you do, quite a useful Artifact for the number of days he covers. Sadly Ock is pretty crap in all other modes, so ABX/L will be all this is good for.

    • Star-Lord

A very high 20% / 25% Damage to Aliens with a less useful defensive passive on top.
Pretty good if you use Star-Lord in ABX/L, likely as a Gladiator alternative for Hero Alien Male - but he is just a 2nd option and is not the meta at the moment.

DPS Artifacts - Damage to Villains
ALL of these Artifacts have Damage Dealt to Villains as the main effect. Any additional effects are listed in the description.
No further descriptions are provided and they are in no particular order. Simply pick these if you use these characters often and want them to deal more damage.
    • Captain America (Sharon Rogers)

      (11% / 15%)
      + Instinct Critical Rate (14% / 16%)
      + Instinct Critical Damage (15% / 20%)

    • Sentry

      (16% / 20%)
      + HP (16% / 20%)

    • Thanos

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)
      + HP (13% / 15%)

    • Crescent

      (16% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (16% / 20%)

    • Scarlet Witch

      (16% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (16% / 20%)

    • Gladiator

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)

    • Silver Surfer

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)

    • Knull

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)

    • Winter Soldier

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)

    • Jean Grey

      (17% / 20%)
      + Basic Damage to Heroes (17% / 20%)
Note that this does drop from Jean Grey's WBL stage though, so might be a waste if you plan to push at any point.

These spots symbolize his extraordinary ability to create interdimensional portals, a power that is as visually striking as it is effective in combat.
The faceless, black void of his hood adds an enigmatic quality, making him stand out not only visually but also thematically in the realm of comic book characters. His abilities are so unconventional, yet they're incredibly powerful and versatile, which makes him quite memorable.
