Sentry and the Challengers

Introduction

The 9th Year Anniversary update was uncharacteristically lacking in additional content, but brought some significant shakeups to the meta, most notably with Sentry's treatment as the first Native Tier-3 to receive a uniform and a Tier-4.

A mid-month update also introduced new uniforms and Tier-4s for the Maximoff twins.

    Sentry [Merged]

Sentry's uniform was immediately meta breaking in a way that few recent uniforms have been - perhaps not since Dark Phoenix was a character so clearly a step above. A worthy treatment for the first Native Tier-3 to receive the Tier-4 bump, especially with the Tier-4 upgrade costs being cheaper than expected.

Capable of putting in work in PvE modes if built for it, but not a true hybrid goat like Dark Phoenix was on release. A large factor is likely the maturity of the T4 PvE meta now compared to about 1.5 years ago when Dark Phoenix released. Whatever the case, you'd be crazy to build him for anything other than PvP.

    Hulk [Titan]
    Hulk [Titan]

Much to the dismay of normal people everywhere, Hulk fans won big with this uniform. Visually incredible skills, a satisfying rotation, and top-tier performance is really all you can ask for in a character and he has it all. Crucially this uniform makes him almost pure PvE while retaining the HP-based damage calculation, a surprising switch-up from his [Immortal] and [Fear Itself] uniforms which were PvP-focused.

Comparisons between Hulk and Doctor Octopus were plentiful as both were 12m-ABL-capable Combat Villains who covered the same ABL days. Results generally indicated Doc Ock was slightly better, but there are many factors in play - players having a head-start on the Sinister Six Team Up Collection (compared to Hulk's Avengers one, added just this update), most PvE players not focusing on Max HP, and Hulk having less build options to buff up his offensive stats (due to the HP scaling). Ultimately it boils down to preference as both Hulk and Ock are more than sufficient to meet most players' needs.

    Scarlet Witch [Scarlet Witch]
    Scarlet Witch [Scarlet Witch]

A phenomenal Alliance Battle focused uniform, right up there with Luna Snow in the top 2. Capable of maxing out Universal Female ABL without paywall supports (Phyla & Angela rather than Satana & Morgan), crushes her ABX days, and is a viable no restriction clear too.

On the negative side, her performance in other modes (even PvE ones) is not nearly as remarkable. Her rotation, while satisfying, lacks the visual dazzle of the past two MCU uniforms and is less spammy, which could be seen as less unique. Overall likely a slight disappointment for diehard Scarlet Witch fans hoping to use her in all content, but for anyone looking to push ABX/L scores specifically, this uniform is a treat.

    The Challenging
    Thor [All-Father Reborn]
    Thor [All-Father Reborn]

A sleek new original uniform for Thor, and the second new uniform to be given to an existing Tier-4 this update (along with Hulk). Sadly this uniform is more of a mixed bag than Hulk's is, more of a WBL-focused sidegrade with some weird skills that don't flow together well.

Still a decent pickup for the many players who already have Thor at Tier-4, but not recommended otherwise.

    Quicksilver [Mighty Avengers]
    Quicksilver [Mighty Avengers]

An obligatory Quicksilver uniform was bound to arrive alongside his sister. As Speed Male he has very few PvE restrictions, so Netmarble rightly made this a PvP focused uniform. Sadly it's not anything meta-changing and will likely just be a backup Otherworld or AC character even at Tier-4.

    Anti-Man [Ultimates]
    Anti-Man [Ultimates]

A gorgeous uniform in model and skill animations, but sadly completely gimped by being stuck at Tier-3. His leadership was bumped from 45% to 60% Attack with an added 30% HP on top, but this still pales in comparison to modern meta supports, many of which are much easier to acquire. He's a skip, especially if you don't already have him Tier-2.

    The Challenged

These Transcended characters were seemingly shoved in due to the Thor connection and have absolutely 0 impact.
